"I considered myself to have a pretty good workout routine at my old gym. I worked out 4 days a week and did a long run on the weekend. Three years ago my definition of working out was just running on the treadmill and occasionally doing some sit-ups. I rarely, if ever, touched weights and certainly was not able to do a push-up. I would be hard pressed to say that I could even do push-ups on my knees back then. I struggled with the fact that I was not losing weight and not getting faster when I would run. I knew something had to change, but wasn't sure how. Three years ago, I joined the gym and I was hooked. I was a little intimidated at first since I was not in my typical comfort zone. That feeling didn't last long. The team here was patient and eager to help me learn the ropes (literally!). It really is like Cheers. It really has become my Happy Hour. It is a habit and part of my routine that I just consider a no-brainer. You wake up and go. No excuses.
It took about a year to notice a considerable difference in my running. Measurably speaking, I was 18 minutes faster on my last half-marathon and felt great at the end. My numbers on the scale are about the same as they always have been, but I now understand that 5 pounds of muscle looks much different from 5 pounds of fat. My greatest feat is being able to do push-ups! Hands down, I love them more than running now. You know those pair of jeans that hang in your closet? The ones that you just can't seem to part with because you know you are going to be able to fit into them someday...and they haunt you! I can finally fit into them, but they are way out of style! I am thankful for the support and education that the entire team has given me. Now if I can just get those pull-ups!"
"My husband started getting serious about his diet and exercise. One day it just hit me that I needed to do more if I wanted the results I was striving for. I finally went to my husband for help. He told me he had been waiting for a long time for me to take the step of asking for help. I think he knew if he came to me first that I would be defensive and defiant. He was probably right. Right away, he told me about Alloy® Training Systems . I have always felt too afraid to lift weights. Quite honestly, I did not know much about weight training and I was too intimidated to even venture over to that section of the gym.
As far as eating, I have tried in the past to eat healthy. Of course, my understanding of eating healthy was a Lean Cuisine at lunch! Then, I discovered Alloy® Training Systems. I may feel awkward doing certain exercises but the gym staff never makes me feel that way. Every time I finish my hour of training, I feel like I have accomplished so much. I was taught about food each week so I was not overwhelmed by hearing everything in one sitting. After three months of training and eating healthy, I have seen changes to my body that I could not see possible. I lost 5-1/2 off my waist. 13-1/2 inches of body fat overall! I am fitting into so many old outfits! The one thing I have learned is there is no easy way to get to where you want. You have to dig deep and just do the work. I cannot wait to see what results are waiting for me in the future!"
"I came to the gym to start my life over after a sudden death. At the beginning it was a challenge just to walk in the door but after the first thirty days I was finally working out and changing my diet. When I decided to fully commit myself the pounds just started coming off and I felt and looked better than I have in years. It's hard work but it is totally worth it.
I am committed to my new lifestyle 100 percent and will never again go back to my old habits; I can't just throw this work away. It's not about looking good but looking at yourself from the inside and finding who you are. I believed in myself and I want everyone to! Thank you so much to the entire staff for helping me reach my goals!"
"Nothing is faster at making you want to sit on the couch and eat chips than your husband encouraging you to work out. Not that he was being mean or that he was wrong. It's just I'm one to want to do the opposite of what someone tells me to do. I've never really enjoyed working out per se (those kinds of people have always mystified me), and having hit my 30s and birthed two kids, I wasn't exactly looking forward to going to a place where hard bodies worked out so I could be the poster child of all that is wrong with America. Thankfully, I finally got to the point where I knew I needed to do something. I had previously followed a low-carb diet twice before, only to gain the weight back once I stopped the diet. I was sick and tired of being fatigued and unhappy with my post-partum body, so I finally swallowed my pride and took my husbands advice, and started working out.
I met with the program director and discussed my goals. I wanted to lose 20 lbs. and increase my muscle tone. We talked about what good nutrition entails and what it would take for me to lose the weight. So, I started to mind what I ate and I consistently worked out twice a week with the trainers.
It didn't take long before I started looking forward to my workouts and actually missing them when my schedule didn't allow for my routine workouts. I love the atmosphere, the trainers make it fun to work out and I've enjoyed getting to know other clients when I've had the opportunity to work out with them. And, I started seeing results. I lost pounds and inches. I actually have shape to my muscles. It's been almost a year and half since I started working out and I've met my goal of losing 20 lbs. In addition, I no longer have to take anti-depressants, which I thought I would have to take for the rest of my life. I've also taken up tennis, and I'm frequently the most physically fit player on the court.
Working out has changed my life. I know I'm capable of physical challenges and that gives me the courage and confidence to continue pushing myself. I still like sitting on the couch and eating chips, but that's pretty rare these days. I'd rather be working out!"
"As a former collegiate wrestler and highly competitive triathlete, my eyes have been opened to a great new training tool to help improve my overall health and triathlon performance. After training for just 3 months, I could already see a huge difference in my core and leg strength. These two areas have really helped me improve my biking ability and overall fitness level during a triathlon. Last month I was able to set a new personal record by over 7 minutes on a half Ironman and over 12 minutes on one of the toughest courses in the South. My improvement helped me finish with a time of 4:37 and an overall victory beating the 2nd place finisher by over 10 minutes.
With a Masters Degree in Sports Medicine and being a former personal trainer, I can really see how Alloy® Training Systems will soon become the new and improved way for individuals and athletes alike to train and enhance either their overall fitness or athletic ability. The main reason I neglected leg exercises was because of continuous lower back or leg pain from tweaking my back during heavy leg exercises. The trainers were able to teach me how to perform the correct movements with perfect form and minimal weight to get the most bang for my buck. Another benefit is the amount of core exercises performed during each session. Core exercises have been another great tool to help me decrease the chances of back or leg injuries.
As a current Director of Wrestling, our program will be adapting the Alloy® Training Systems philosophy and exercise routine to help enhance our athletes overall performance and fitness level to help achieve individual and team goals."
"Growing up and throughout my life, sports were instrumental in keeping me physically fit ,strong and healthy. However, as I aged, annual physicals began to form small indicators of possible future problems. At age 58 while in Las Vegas on business, I began to tire while walking after leaving a meeting. Thankfully, my wife was forceful that I see my doctor.
I was then referred to a cardiologist who immediately put me in the hospital for stent implants to open two arteries that were 70 - 80% closed; followed by six weeks of a physical rehab program.
After all of that was behind me, I joined a local gym and spent most of my time on repetitive aerobics and lifting weights with results fair at best.
The turning point was when I quit that gym and discovered Alloy® Training Systems! Alloy® designed a personal training program based on my needs which were:
I like the fact that this gym offers, personal training options and Team Training which were designed to accommodate all fitness levels. I also enjoy working out with the various trainers and interacting with all the other clients.
My mind and body are now working together as I mature - thanks Alloy® Training Systems!"
"I started here because I wanted to learn advanced training routines to push myself to another level of strength and fitness. Since starting I have gained 12 pounds of muscle and I can honestly say that my strength gains have been shocking. I'm doing things now I never would have thought possible for someone of my size
and frame. For example, I've been able to do a one arm pull-up for the first time in my life. When I walked in the door I told them that I was looking to be challenged and they did not disappoint! The programs they developed for me have been more than I could have hoped for. Im excited to see what they come up with for me in the future!"
"We have always been relatively active people with decent dietary habits. Still, after turning 40 the metabolism just wasn't what it used to be and our normal running routine was missing the mark. We needed to add something to the regimen. Alloy® Training System was the answer for us.
Exercising together makes us a better couple, both physically and emotionally. We look forward to our sweat dates together. Our workouts are scheduled in advance and guarded by us both. Our joint gym dates simultaneously hold us accountable and propel toward our goal of perpetual improvement. The staff are informed and as invested in our overall health and well-being as we are! We train at the gym three days a week (two After Burn classes and one small group) in addition to our running 10-15k a week. The trainers and fellow members have pushed us to face our fears and meet challenges we never thought possible.
With the genuine encouragement and skillful direction provided by the trainers we are seeing the results we were seeking; leaner bodies and increased strength and energy. If improved fitness is your goal, there is no better place to be. Thank you to the entire staff and members. We look forward to continuing with you all on this quest to success."
"Three years ago was the first time I had ever joined a gym and I was a bit skeptical. I always exercised at home and was not used to training with others. Then I decided I needed to change up my exercise routine to increase my strength and muscle mass. I started out training only 1x week. By the end of 6 months, I bumped my membership to 2x week and added a weekly afterburn class. By the start of my second year, I was hooked, 3x week small group training and 1 afterburn class per week. Over the past 3 years, my strength has improved tremendously and I have significantly increased my lean muscle mass. I finally figured out that just exercising on the treadmill or elliptical machine doesn't make you both fit and STRONG.
When I received the email from the gym congratulating me on 12 consecutive months of training (at least 10 x month) over the past year, I was surprised. I guess I didn't realize that consistently training at the gym was a big deal, the big deal to me was seeing the results!
As a registered dietitian, I counsel my clients all the time about how consistent, healthy food choices will lead them down a path of good health. Now I can say from personal experience that consistency with strength training leads you down the same path, a healthier, stronger and FITTER path! Thank you to all the great trainers (I have trained with every single one of you and each one of you ROCKS!) and thank you to the great gym community, you help make coming to the gym every week fun!"
"When I first joined the gym I was a little nervous. Little did I know, in about a year, I'd be a couple pounds lighter, much more tone and so much stronger! I have gained many good friends since I have been a member. I've always been tall and thin and involved in some type of exercise but as I got older (yes, older), I was losing muscle tone. When I talked with the director about my goals, he took me seriously. My goal wasn't to necessarily lose weight, it was to eat HEALTHY, gain strength, flexibility and muscle tone, oh and to do just one BOY push up! Another client at the gym asked me recently what I was training for and I told him , The rest of my life!
When I first started working out I didn't want to work out in a group; I was self-conscious of how weak I was. I couldn't even do a girl push-up Today, I can do two pull ups from the bar, over 15 BOY push ups and I swing over 60 lbs. routinely! For those of you that don't know me, I am almost 6 feet tall, my limbs are LONG and doing pull ups and push ups are a feat within themselves then factor in my height (oh and my lack of coordination)!!
I LOVE this gym!! I have made some great friends, we have our own little work out group now and often meet for lunch on Wednesdays, our day off. The trainers are fabulous, they all know how to push me to do my best. After every workout I am so thankful that I came, there is accountability, from the trainers and my work out buddies. If I don't show up on one of my days, someone always asks where I was! They miss me just as much as I miss them! I'm hooked!"
"These were the words of my doctor as he reviewed my blood test. My triglycerides were high, my blood sugar levels indicated that I had Type 2 diabetes, my iron levels were dangerously high and my testosterone levels were equally low. Along with this my blood pressure was 142/90. The doctor recommended a change in blood pressure medication and adding medication for the diabetes. He also asked that I begin to exercise on a regular basis and change my diet.
I followed his orders. I began regularly working out and noticed changes immediately. Even though the workouts were very challenging, I began to feel better immediately. Four weeks later I went back to the doctor who entered the room a second time shocked again by what my tests showed. My blood pressure was 100/72. There has never been a time in my life when my blood pressure was even close to those numbers. My blood sugar dropped from 285 to 107. My testosterone level was normal, as were my iron and triglycerides. Even though I only lost five pounds I had lost two inches in my waist and already had to go buy new clothes that would fit. I felt stronger and had much more energy for my coaching duties.
I am so very grateful to all of the staff. They have been encouraging, patient, and fun. They were so helpful to my wife and me in helping us with our nutritional needs. The workouts aren't easy, but every day I leave saying to myself, "That was awesome!"
By the way, after a little over three months I have lost 21 pounds. Thank You, Alloy® Training System!"
"I joined the gym after finishing grad school. Having not only gained a degree, but something akin to the freshman 15, its bigger, beefier brother, I was looking for help losing weight. I had a background in endurance training having finished numerous century rides and running events ranging from 5ks to full marathons, but I had never focused on strength training. While I could put away the miles on the bike or on the running trails, I couldn't do a single push-up during my first fitness evaluation. I'll admit it was a blow to my ego, but exactly what I needed to convert me to the functional fitness philosophy of Alloy® Training System. I quickly realized that this approach to fitness was more balanced and less stressful on my body, which was coincidentally beginning to nag me with injuries due to the combination of extra body-weight and a considerable amount of mileage on the road and trails. In balancing out my training it helped me lose the extra weight, become less injury prone, and quickly improve my health and fitness. My goals have varied over the years, but I received the knowledge, and the support necessary to reach those goals. I've lost body fat and added a significant amount of muscle. Push-ups are no longer a problem and I've drastically improved my PRs both on the bike and running. Most recently, I completed a metric century ride (63 miles) with one of my best finishing times ever. This was a little surprising because I had't been on my road bike in about six months. My finishing time was a reflection of the functional fitness I've gained rather than hours of specialized training on the bike. Ultimately, the Alloy® Training Systm is the lynchpin of fitness in my life. Thefantastic staff and ever-changing workouts keep me on my toes and inspired to keep moving outside of the gym."
